去年4月1日，杜兆才涉嫌严重违纪违法，接受中央纪委国家监委纪律审查和监察调查。4月13日，杜兆才被免去国家体育总局副局长职务。10月7日，杜兆才严重违纪违法被开除党籍和公职。10月10日，最高人民检察院依法以涉嫌受贿罪对杜兆才作出逮捕决定。据此前足球报消息，杜兆才的涉案金额超过4000万人民币。
